Harry’s house plant guide for office bods

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , on April 8, 2009 by Asher Rospigliosi

While I try to get outside as often as I can (the dogs certainly help with that), I do spend more hours sat at a PC than not, and so I was interested when my colleage Harry Hillery (of housing) called for info on low maintainance house plants. Here is what he found (thanks for sharing Harry).

·         Plants recommended for office environments:

Weeping figs are pretty tolerant and need little water in the winter – http://www.houseofplants.co.uk/Ficus_benjamina_Weeping_fig.htm

Painted Prayer Plant (Stromanthe Triostar) – good in low level light

Spider plants – good at soaking up the atmospheric output of printers and copiers

Mother in law’s tongue – Sansevieria trifasciata – ‘almost indestructable’

Aloe Vera – very hardy, likes light and warm. Nice associations with health – soothing skin

Dragon trees & ivy – good at soaking up the atmospheric output of printers and copiers

Peace lilies – good at soaking up the atmospheric output of printers and copiers

Money plants – low maintenance
