ALT-C 2009: Blog it and they will come, final session….

After the dissapointment of the teacher trainers, where take up of blogs by trainee teachers were derisory…  Now Mike Cameron had a dream. Megan Warren (anthroplogist from Adelide Uni, need to see if she and Simon Shurville know each other)…wanted to explore first contact between the unfamiliar tribes: technologists and academics..


  • reflection on learning in language studies
  • wikis as a bank of knowledge, students building repositories (or in another case journal reviews)
  • computer science & business – project management using pattern language (what is that? cf D Laurillard)

Large survey of benefits: 2619 respondents. 116 groups used wikis. What lead to success:

There was a three stage model, proposed, but not critically tested…. (Embed, Empower and Engage)…
